Before you buy facts
The most important thing to know before replacing your inefficient incandescent light bulb is to make
sure the replacement LED bulb has the same light output as your exising bulb.
Incandescent lamps generate light by heating the filament to a very high temperature so that it glows to
a warm yellow light. Incandescent light is highly inefficient, as about 95% of the energy input is emitted
A 100 watt 230 volt incandescent light bulbs generates around 1350 lumens of light. (13.5 lm/W) This is
emitted in an 300° spread.

Lux is the unit of luminous flux per square metre. It is the measure of the intensity as perceived by the
human eye, of light that hits a surface. E.G. The amount of light that hits a surface or brightness of light
One lux is equal to one lumen per square meter. 1 lx = 1 lm/m²
The beam angle is the angle of light from the light source.
Incandescent and Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) = 300°

As you can see in the above charts the enerx 9W Led bulb has the same output light as an 75w
incandescent bulb and the 12W Led bulb has the same output light as an 100W incandescent bulb
when installed in a recessed down light.
Colour temperature is a characteristic of visible light that has important applications in lighting.
Colour temperature is conventionally stated in the unit of Kelvin. (K)
Incandescent light bulbs only product a warm white colour of 2700 - 3300K
Enerx LED bulbs are available in two colour options.
- Warm white 2700 - 3200K
- Natural white 3800 - 4500K
The warm white LED bulb is ideal for lounges, hallways and bedrooms where people relax.
The Natural white colour is a white light making them ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, Offices
Beware of cheap LED bulbs on the market that have a colour temperature of 6000k. These are not
suitable for residential lighting.
Size of Lamps
The traditional incandescent light bulb has a size of A19. A = Appliance and 19 = diameter of bulb in
multiples of 1/8 inch. 19 x 1/8" diameter is 2 ,3/8 inches or 60.0mm.
Beware of LED bulbs on the market which have a lot bigger diameter, some as large as 90.0mm.
The enerx LED bulbs are compact in size with a diameter of only 63.0mm making them combatable
with traditional light fittings.
As seen in the above charts the enerx 9W LED bulb is equivalent to a 75W incandescent and the enerx
12W LED bulb is equivalent to a 100W incandescent.
Buyers beware of low cost unlabelled LED bulbs on the market that say they are equivalent to a 60W
incandescent bulb but only generate about 400 Lumens.
According to European Union Standard an energy efficient bulb that claims to be equivalent of a 60W
tungsten bulb must have a minimum light output of 700 - 750 lumens.
All light bulbs have to have a rated life span in hours. This is the average life range of a bulb before it
starts to deteriorate. As you can see in Fig 1 the average life span of light bulbs are as follows.
